A new chapter
After 27 years in Dubai, I moved on to a new country, believing I had left my company Pets Habitat in good hands. Unfortunately, I soon realised that my vision for ethical pet ownership was not to last in other's hands.
Today, finding genuinely ethically bred and raised puppy in UAE or other GCC countries is nearly impossible, unless one travels abroad, navigates the complicated import regulations and procedures, which are different for every country, then personally ensures responsible breeding practices through massive leg work of visiting several breeders, often in different parts of the country, and who do not always wish to be visited unless you are buying (in Europe, people are cautious about letting strangers into their homes and discussing something so personal as their dog's litters and breeding practices, especially with someone who comes from abroad - a personal introduction throuhg family member or a friend makes rapport building easier).
To explores options of selecting your puppy directly from a responsible breeder in another country, you must consider the required time to stay abroad to pick your puppy and to complete all the steps of required vaccinations and medical procedures, the necessary travel between cities, towns and provinces, fulfilment of multiple formalities to bring your chosen puppy back home to UAE, selection of airline, agent, and many more tasks that are too tedious to list here.
So, upon many requests from pet enthusiasts who valued my approach, I decided to bring back the opportunity for UAE and other GCC countries residents to own ethically sourced puppies - without the uncertainty, risks and stress. To navigate a vast network of private breeders exclusive to the Italian community, I enlisted the help of my husband, native Italian, to persuade our chosen breeders to export one of their puppies out of the EU to the new owner in UAE.
